You might be wondering why I chose this theme for my blog. The short answer is that it’s part of who I am. Always thinking ahead. I’m a planner. In fact, I do it without thinking. My mother told me that I was the only child who would lay things out ahead of time the night before school. I like to see the big picture and be prepared.

Successful business owners are always a step ahead of everyone else. Successful athletes prepare meticulously for their respective sports. A good lawyer will always be prepared to present a case. An inspiring pastor spends hours of preparation before delivering a sermon to the congregation. To be prepared is to be prudent and responsible.

The reality, however, is that we really can’t plan out our lives. We’re hit with spontaneity, surprises, and curveballs that are unpredictable and ruin our plans. We can’t see very far down the road. We live in the present, one step at a time. Who is one step ahead of you? Who is one step behind? I choose to be one step ahead.
